Regional Governor of Plovdiv Region Zdravko Dimitrov and Plovdiv Metropolitan Nikolay led the festive procession on May 24 – the Day of Education, Culture and Slavonic Literature

The celebration began with a solemn liturgy in the temple “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, served by His Eminence Plovdiv Metropolitan Nikolay.

The colorful procession, involving students from all the schools in Plovdiv, passed on the main street of the town.

In front of the monument of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, wreaths and flowers were placed both by the officials, and by the numerous students and guests, followed by a festive procession led by the Plovdiv brass band and flag bearers of the icon of St. St. Cyril and Methodius.

The celebration continued with a festive concert featuring the Big Band Plovdiv, vocal, choir, guitar and dance ensembles.

The Regional Governor greeted the participants and appealed for education and culture to be the highest value and responsibility of the citizens who should love, appreciate and keep their native Bulgarian, follow their dreams and stand up for their ideals!

He wished the teachers to continue with love and attention carry out their great mission – to educate our children, the future of Bulgaria.

“It is our duty to preserve, praise and continue the work of the Slavic teachers Cyril and Methodius for the better future of Bulgaria!”, said Zdravko Dimitrov.
