On 21 December 2017 Mr. Zdravko Dimitrov, Regional Governor of Plovdiv Region, and Mr. Kiril Valchev, Executive Director of Foundation \u201ePlovdiv 2019\u201c, signed a framework agreement on joint activity and cooperation in organizing of initiatives and events that will promote cultural events and festivals in the region related to the initiative Plovdiv \u2013 European Capital of Culture in 2019.<\/p>\n

The parties signed this agreement, motivated by the desire to promote the sustainable development of culture in Plovdiv Region and the need to unite the efforts and capacities of both organizations to draw up an innovative and interesting artistic program for achieving a common goal \u2013 the development of the project cluster REGIONALE that aims to highlight the diversity of the European culture by presenting the traditions and customs, crafts and art of the region. The two organizations will also collaborate on the international exchanges of artists, researchers and various cultural operators. The event was attended by Vice Governors Mrs. Evelina Apostolova, Mr. Petar Petrov and Mr. Dimitar Kerin.<\/p>\n

Foundation \u201ePlovdiv 2019\u201c and the Regional Administration of Ploviv Region have already jointly organized a series of information meetings related to the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the promotion of the European Capital of Culture project and, in particular, the open call for funding of projects initiated by and for the Chitalishta from the South Central Region, which includes the districts of Plovdiv, Smolyan, Haskovo, Kardjali and Pazardjik. Application deadline is January 31, 2018.<\/p>\n
