“Today, 140 years after the Liberation, we honor the glorious date and we bow to the feats of those who have fallen for our right to be independent – Russian, Romanian, Finnish warriors and Bulgarian volunteers who, by their sacrifice, have won our freedom!
Let us not forget the heroism of our ancestors and keep in our hearts the proud Bulgarian spirit, because the freedom of the Motherland is the highest value and duty of each of us”, said the Regional Governor in his speech.
Hundreds of citizens of Plovdiv went to the Monument of the Russian Liberators on Bunardzhika hill to pay their tribute to the feats of Bulgarian volunteers, Russian, Finnish and Ukrainian soldiers. The official guests and the citizens carried wreaths and flowers, a representative platoon and a military wind orchestra took part in the celebrations.
At 18.30 on the Central Square, in front of the Garrison Military Club, a ceremonial fire-check was carried out with the participation of military formations from the Plovdiv garrison.
