On February 14, 2018, the governor, Zdravko Dimitrov, welcomed the new Turkish ambassador to Bulgaria, Dr. Hasan Ulusoy, who made his first visit to the Regional Administration in Plovdiv. The Regional Governor welcomed the guest and stressed that they were all working together to maintain good neighborly relations between our two nations. He expressed his gratitude to the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Hussein Ergani for the fruitful work.
The Ambassador thanked for the opportunity to make this visit, which was the first one outside Sofia. He also stressed that friendship and good neighborliness are the factor that strengthens ties between countries, and the emphasis must be put on cohabitation and its positive aspects, and to develop by drawing lessons from history.
Hasan Ulusoy shared that his wife had Bulgarian roots, because her great-grandfather was born in Plovdiv, and that’s why the town is so hearty to him.
They discussed the possibilities of joint projects related to the preservation of the cultural and historical heritage and various initiatives to be included in the context of Plovdiv – European capital of Culture in 2019.
The first initiative, which will take place under the patronage of the governor Zdravko Dimitrov and the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Hussein Ergani, will be held in the new Chamber Hall of the Regional Administration. On February 21, at 18.00, the International Day of Mother Tongue will be celebrated with a multilingual cultural and musical program featuring representatives of all ethnicities living in Plovdiv.
