Regional Governor of Plovdiv Region, Mr. Zdravko Dimitrov met with leading journalists from the Republic of Korea. They come for the second time in the City under the hills at the invitation of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ). The visit of South Korean journalists takes place within the framework of the Agreement for cooperation between the UBJ and the JAK signed in 2015. The six-member delegation was led by the President of the Journalists Association of Korea (JAK) Mr. Jung Kyu-Sung, and included leaders of journalists’ societies from the Republic of Korea. On the Bulgarian side the meeting was attended by the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of UBJ Ms. Snezhana Todorova, the journalist Georgi Naydenov and the Vice Regional Governors Ms. Evelina Apostolova and Mr. Petar Petrov.
Guests expressed their admiration for the warm welcome and said they were impressed by the beautiful city, adding that they had literally borded the Time machine and had passed through the Antiquity, Middle Ages and Revival of Bulgaria.
Regional Governor Zdravko Dimitrov familiarized them with the economic and cultural development of Plovdiv region. He stressed that it is the fastest growing region in the country, and next year Plovdiv will be the European Capital of Culture.
“I am proud to be a governor of this region, populated both in the past and nowadays with extremely active and public-spirited people.”
South Korean journalists have shown interest in cooperation between Plovdiv cultural institutions and the Asian Cultural Center.
At the end of the meeting, the guests took a photograph with the governor and exchanged gifts, then went to Panagurishte to visit the Historical Museum and see the Thracian gold treasure exhibited there.
