At the invitation of the Regional Governor of Plovdiv – Mr. Zdravko Dimitrov, a delegation of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People’s Congress, headed by the Secretary General, Mr. Qu Jianmin, was on an official visit to Plovdiv region. The Hainan delegation consisted of: Mr. Zou Qiguo – Deputy Secretary General of Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People’s Congress; Mr. Zhou Jun – Deputy Secretary General of the Economic and Financial Commission of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People’s Congress; Mr. Zhang Yuli – Head of the Department of Administrative Service and Assistance of the Hainan Provincial Assembly; Ms. Zhou Hongyan – Head of Internal Affairs judicial Commission of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People’s Congress and Ms. Qi Jing – Chief expert in Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, P.R.C. Mr. Li Jiayi of the Embassy of the P.R.C in Bulgaria also joined the delegation.
The guests visited the 16+1 eCommerce Logistics Hub and Pavilion for agricultural and other products situated in Trakia Economic Zone and were welcomed by Mr. Vasil Gelev, executive director of the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the CEE countries. During the meeting the delegates discussed issues of co-operation in the field of agriculture as well as opportunities for more intensive economic exchanges aimed at advancing the trade-production activity and the business relations between Plovdiv region and Hainan province.
At the Municipal Council of Plovdiv, the guests from Hainan met Mrs. Savina Petkova – Chairman of the Council. The meeting was attended by Mr. Kiril Velchev – Executive Director of “Plovdiv 2019” Foundation and Mr. Viktor Yankov, Deputy Director of “Plovdiv 2019” Foundation. The two local self-government bodies presented their structure, activities and credentials. On his turn, Mr. Qu Jianmin underlined that Hainan Province is the youngest province in the People’s Republic of China – only 30 years old, the only one with tropical climate and a special status of a free zone for tourism and economy, which owns 4 airports and a large port under construction. The Secretary-General pointed out that Plovdiv and Hainan have mutual interests in agriculture, preserved natural resources and the production of specific products like the Bulgarian rose oil and the Hainan liquid rubber.
Following the presentation of Mr. Kiril Velchev for the forthcoming host of Plovdiv as a European Capital of Culture in 2019, the Chinese delegates expressed the new important direction for strengthening cooperation between Plovdiv Region and Hainan Province, namely culture.
In the course of the official meeting, Mr. Qu Jianmin presented to Ms. Savina Petkova a draft of a Cooperation Agreement between the Plovdiv City Council and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Hainan Province.
